Welcome to the Radiance Solar blog! We are glad that you are joining us on our journey to find a better way to reduce our environmental impact and to save money, energy and water.
We hope that you will find this a helpful resource in the often complex world of solar, renewable energy and energy efficiency. Our mission as a company is to become a trusted source for solar energy in the Southeast and beyond. Like many of you we want to have a positive impact on the world. Our team is a highly talented group that has been extremely successful at taking new technologies to market for the past 25 years, from the first personal computers and local area networks, to the internet and new media with companies like Yahoo!, IBM, Lotus Development, Google and Turner Broadcasting. We are working to build a company that treats people with care and respect, has a large positive impact on the environment, and is highly profitable. We all have children and we care deeply about their future and the environment here in Georgia and beyond.
We hope that we can share with you some of the best of class articles and thinking that we share internally as we work to stay on top of a fast moving emergent category. We also want to do some myth busting - like the myth that solar does not work in the South. Solar is a proven technology that is working all over the world including Germany, Spain, Israel, Australia, Canada, Vermont, New Jersey. California is working on what they call a Million Roof Initiative. Germany has as few as 2 solar sun hours per day and they are a leader in solar energy production. The South has 4.25 to 5.5 solar sun hours per day — think of where we can be if we put our hearts and minds to it. Solar has been around for a very long time and there are solar energy systems (both solar thermal (hot water) and solar electric (photovoltaic or PV)) that have been in use with little or no maintenance for 20 - 30 years and more. This technology works and is more cost effective than ever for both commercial and residential customers.
In speaking to hundreds of colleagues in the solar energy field, we have learned what incredible renewable energy the sun holds and how rapidly the technology that helps harness it is improving. It has been an incredibly exciting and inspiring journey and we won't stop until we are the leading solar power provider and installer in the Southeast. We want to thank the technologists and engineers at GA Tech, Southface, The Florida Solar Institute, North Carolina's Energy.org, Oak Ridge Labs Renewable Energy Lab and hundreds of suppliers, manufactures, architects, designers, environmentalist, government officials and businesses that are our colleagues in the new area of cleantech or greentech and have shared their knowledge and passion with us in these past months.
Please join us on this adventure. We don't have all the answers but we are going to do everything possible to be a positive change agent and resource in this new era of renewable energy.
