on June 4th of 2010, Governor Purdue signed into law House Bill 1069 (HB1069), which takes effect on 6/4 and makes a reservation possible for the Georgia State Tax Credit for 2011 and 2012.  At present, the funds are $2.5 million respectively for each year, and are fully available.  We predict that if a solar PV project is pursued in calendar year 2010, then the chances of securing a reservation spot in 2011 or 2012 are very good.  We can contact GEFA at any time on your behalf for the latest update.

Duke Energy and SunPower have announced the completion of a new 1 Megawatt solar utility project in Shelby, North Carolina.  1MW of power is enough to power between 250-500 homes, and is a great example of the introduction of clean, renewable energy into a major utility’s portfolio here on the east coast.

Anheuser-Busch has announced a new 525kW solar PV installation at its brewery in Newark, NJ.  This is the second solar installation for AB, which also has wastewater-to-biogas recovery systems at 10 of its 12 US breweries.

GreenWorks Realty has conducted a study which demonstrates the value of an environmental residence, finding that on average an equivalent property using green energy or energy efficiency technologies sells for 4.8% more, and 24% quicker, than similar properties.

If you live or work in a north Georgia county serviced by a TVA-partnered EMC, you may be eligible for the best solar energy incentives in the state. Currently the Tennessee Valley Authority has authorized its member EMCs to buy your solar energy back from you at a rate in excess of 12 cents per killowatt hour over your prevailing energy rates. So if you currently pay $.10/kWh for your home or business' energy, the TVA will pay you $.22/kWh for the power generated from your solar panels.
