North GA Has Best Solar Incentives in the State

If you live or work in a north Georgia county serviced by a TVA-partnered EMC, you may be eligible for the best solar energy incentives in the state. Currently the Tennessee Valley Authority has authorized its member EMCs to buy your solar energy back from you at a rate in excess of 12 cents per killowatt hour over your prevailing energy rates. So if you currently pay $.10/kWh for your home or business' energy, the TVA will pay you $.22/kWh for the power generated from your solar panels.

One of the most progressive countries for solar energy is Germany. By way of a Feed-in Tariff, much of the country's roofs are covered in solar. If sun rises, state can meet renewable energy mandate

At a recent congressional hearing, Public Service Commissioner Stan Wise was quoted telling Congress that Georgia cannot meet a mandate to have at least 25 percent of its electricity from renewable sources by 2025.

Wise went on to say that other states would be able to meet the requirement, which may soon be imposed by new federal regulations, though he believes Georgia cannot.
